Began my career in Accounting with Ernst and Young (EY) before moving into Financial Planning in 2006 in Brisbane. I was seconded to Gladstone to cover the Central QLD region spanning from Gladstone, Rockhamption, Emerald, Mackay and Bowen during the middle of the mining boom. Most weeks consisted of 1,600km on the road and having a young family we decided in 2008 to move to Lake Cathie to raise our kids.
We have been part of the local community since 2008 with my wife Jodie running the local pools in the Hastings region and competing in the Ironman triathlon each year. We are a sporting family with my eldest girls Madeleine and Sophie playing netball and touch football, Abby playing soccer and Isaac Rugby League.
I have spent the past 15 years specialising in Retirement Planning and during that time I have seen first-hand the do’s and don’ts to make for an enjoyable retirement. I have been very fortunate to work with quality people that have mentored me and from whom I have learned valuable lessons especially in times of market down turns such as the GFC and more recently COVID in 2020. Having the experience to navigate clients through these times is very important as is being the source of reassurance.
I have a passion for helping people understand that the right advice today will make significant difference to their future and my focus is on achieving the best outcomes for clients.
Besides my family I love all sports and have a genuine admiration for the qualities needed to compete and excel. I also have a thirst for knowledge when it comes to investing and spend most weeks outside work listening to investment podcasts or reading company reports.
